MAC/LPN PROGRAM:
 | DiSC® Assessment Workshop with
Berri Wells Wilmore (New
Date) Monday, June 19, 2006,
8:30AM - Noon |
(For
Review of Meeting, see below.) The
ability to interact effectively with people can sometimes mean the difference
between success and failure in our career and work life. Effective interaction
begins with an accurate perception of oneself - both strengths and weaknesses.
The DiSC® System measures the intensity a person brings to each of the following
areas of behavior: D
= Dominance - Challenge How you respond
to problems and challenges. I = Influence - Contacts How
you influence others to your point of view. S = Steadiness - Consistency
How you respond to the pace of the environment. C
= Compliance - Constraints How you respond
to rules and procedures set by others. The
position of each DiSC® factor provides useful behavioral information that
can provide beneficial insights for you and the people around you. The DiSC®
assessment tool can be used for a variety of purposes: Team Building, Career Development,
Leadership Development, and Mentoring. DiSC® can help you to improve communications,
better understand your role in relationships, create team understanding and unity,
and manage others more effectively. Our
speaker, Berri Wells Wilmore, Senior Partner, Turning Point Solutions,
provides individuals and teams the opportunity to grow personally and professionally
through the use of Inscape Publishing's DiSC® Personal Profile System. Join
us to see how DiSC® can enhance your use of assessments when people understand
their behaviors.
Review
of Meeting: Report
of Program on June 19, 2006 Our
speaker, Benedette Cooper, President and founder of TeamLogic, LLC, gave us an
engaging and lively presentation of the use of Inscape Publishing's DiSC®
Personal Profile System. We were given the opportunity to take the DISC® online
and get an interpretation from the online program to help us understand ourselves
better and how to enhance our use of assessments with our clients. Evaluations
indicated that participants particularly liked the opportunity to network and
reconnect; the energy, enthusiasm and humor of the presenter; new insights into
the assessment tool; the comfortable room and good pastries; good use of examples
and video; having the opportunity to take the assessment before hand; and other
positive reactions. Suggestions for the future were: to learn more on how different
types work together; to have handouts/booklet describing types; an exercise on
How to Work With Others with Different Styles; more time for exercises; more handouts
on the background of DISC; focus on career counseling; comparison with Myers-Briggs;
more time. It's evident that we will want to have another presentation on the
DISC® soon! |
